 John Locke’s ideas would be the most useful today.  John Locke believed that our natural rights, life, liberty, and property could not be stripped away or given up. He went against Hobbes, who believed that the people laid down their natural rights and gave absolute power to a sovereign.  The government cannot take people’s rights away, or else it would lead to chaos. With Thomas Hobbes, he believed once the people had given absolute power to the king, they had no right to revolt against him. This would lead to a place such as North Korea, where communism is the country’s form of government, an infamous system in many parts of the world. If every country in the world followed John Locke’s ways, they would have a more peaceful and thriving society, with happy citizens. Locke's & Hobbes' Critiques: Do I Agree or Disagree?

Critiques of Thomas Hobbes : Absolute dictators are often overthrown. A sovereign violates individual rights extensively. Absolute power corrupts. Strong men in the commonwealth will seek to remove sovereign by force. My Opinion :  Nothing good can come from a king who has all the power. A government needs to be established in order to divide all that power, that way no one can abuse it. When someone or a group has too much power, they eventually start violating people’s rights. When people feel like they aren’t being treated correctly, they will revolt putting the country in a crisis. For example in North Korea, the current president has way too much power, which leads to the oppression of the people, making them have no say in what happens to their country.
